Darren Ockert and Hector Sanchez Q&A at Film Slam 2013

After making its big screen premiere at the FilmSlam Film Festival on Sunday February 17, 2013, Darren Ockert: A Mini Documentary walked away with the top honors of the evening winning Best Short Film. Before the announcement of the winners, Hector Sanchez and Darren Ockert gave a small Q & A about how the film was created.

Film Summary

In 2013, Merciless Films produced a documentary about Darren Ockert, a indie pop singer, songwriter and producer based in Miami, Florida. Directed by Hector M. Sanchez Jr., the short film, which runs 10 minutes, was shot over a two-month period and is mostly set in Ockert’s home and studio in Miami.  It shows a day in the life of a contemporary professional musician, as Ockert – who is a voting member of The Recording Academy (The Grammys) and The Songwriters Hall Of Fame, a member of The American Society Of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), and member of the Producers & Engineers Wing of The Grammys – collaborates with various musicians and engineers (Daniel Valencia, Ron Behaim). The film also offers the first teaser of songs from Ockert’s upcoming electro-pop album, Short Story Long.
